An original & rare BN6 Two Seater Model. This is the model used by the BMC Competitions Dept. for the extremely successful 100/6 & 3000 Mk1 works race & rally cars, due to its additional strength & lighter weight.

 

This is an excellent basis for either conversion to a full FIA HTP spec. race car, or to become a very fast & fun road/sprint/hill climb car. The chassis & body are in very original un-molested condition. It is fitted with an original & rare Rudd Speed carburettor conversion.

History & Specification

 

An ex-American VSCCA race car, which has been raced very competitively around America by well-known VSCCA driver Fred Kalman for over 30 years. The car has been professionally prepared by the well regarded KTR European Motorsport company.

 

From looking through the extensive history file & talking to the current owner, we have gathered the following information:

 

Engine

3000 original engine block

3000 original cylinder head, modified with larger valves

Moldex race crankshaft

Carrillo steel rods

Venolia race pistons

ISKY Race cam with vernier adjustment

Mallory distributor

The engine starts & runs very well, with good oil pressure.

 

Fuel System

Fuel Safe tank

Original period Rudd Speed Performance carburettor conversion.

Triple SU H8 2” carburettors on original Rudd Speed manifolds.

Single high capacity competition fuel pump.

 

Exhaust – Tubular 6-branch competition manifold with straight through pipes exiting below the driver’s door. (sounds awesome)

 

Gearbox & Overdrive – Later type centre change (FIA HTP type). No info about the specification. When driving the car it feels standard, with an easy change in all gears. The overdrive is crisp, with quick changes in & out.

 

Diff – Detroit Locker LSD, no information about the ratio.

 

Brakes

Front – Mintex race pads

Rear – Porterfield race shoes

 

Wheels & Tyres – 15 x 5.5 Minilite style centre-lock alloys with matching spare wheel. Avon CR6ZZ’s with little wear.

 

Chassis & Bodywork – All looks very original & un-touched. The chassis is straight & appears not to have been welded at all. All steel panels. Door gaps are good, as is the general panel fit.

 

Paintwork – Painted some years ago, stone chips around front grille & various marks from use.

Original full width windscreen frame & pillars (glass needs replacing)
