  1. 1. Series Regulations

1.1 Title and Administration

EQUIPE GTS is an invitation series of races organised and administered by Classic Racing EGTS Ltd. This series will not be run as a championship, but prizes will be awarded for individual class and race winners at each event.

It is the intention of the organisers to create a friendly, gentlemanly series of good-value longer-distance events for eligible cars with competent drivers. A high standard of both car presentation and driver behaviour will therefore be expected.

1.5 Competitor Eligibility

All drivers must hold a minimum of a current MSA National “B” race licence for UK events or European equivalent with FiA endorsed logo. For International events you must have a minimum of a current MSA National “A” licence or European equivalent with FiA endorsed logo.

All drivers must be registered for the series.

1.6 Registration

All drivers must be approved by and registered with Equipe Classic  Racing

All drivers will be notified of acceptance before any race entry will be considered.

2nd drivers, Non owners or those renting / borrowing a car must be a fully paid up registered driver and will have to supply a covering letter of race experience prior to any race entry being accepted.

Equipe Classic Racing reserves the right to not accept or cancel the registration or entry of any driver at any time.

1.7 Race Entries

Close of entries will be 2 weeks prior to the event. Up until that date a full refund will be given.

These will be in accordance with the national regulations in the country of the event.

These will be in accordance with the national regulations in the country of the event.

All races will be from a standing start in the order set by the fastest qualifying time.

At a pit stop race the grid positions will be set from the fastest qualification time, if there are 2 drivers both drivers must set a qualifying time and the driver that has set the fastest time will start the race from the position that has been set in qualifying.

At events with two races, race one grid will be formed on the basis of the fastest qualification time ,the grid for race two will be formed using the finishing order of race one with non-finishers in order of retirement at the back of the grid. Changed drivers start from the finishing position of the car in race one.

For 2 race weekends the driver order for race 1 and race 2 needs to be set at signing on.

3.1 Pit Stop regulations

Pit Stop regulations.

If there is a pit stop race the pit window will open at 15mins and will close at 30 mins, Single drivers must stay stationary for 30 seconds. 2 driver teams can change as quickly as they can and safely resume the race as soon as they changed. Engines do not need to be turned off. The pit lane speed will be determined by the clerk of the course. Pit stop timing is the responsibility of the driver. The pit window will stay closed should a safety car be on track prior to the pit window opening.

During a pitstop race there will be a 5 minute penalty for any single driver that does not stay stationary for the mandatory 30 second stop, that misses the pit window or does not stop at all . Speeding in the pit lane will also attract the same penalty.

  1. 4. Race Penalties

These will be in accordance with the national regulations in the country of the event.

However, entrants should be aware that Equipe Classic Racing will monitor and discipline any poor, overly aggressive or dangerous driving and any driver or car failing to meet the standard approved by Equipe Classic Racing will receive a formal warning.

Any further infringements within a one-year period may result in exclusion from the series. The driver of any car damaged or causing damage during an Equipe Classic Racing event will also have to seek approval before they may continue to compete in future Equipe Classic Racing races.

  1. 5. Technical Regulations

5.1 EQUIPE GTS General Principles

This Series is primarily intended for period E and F GT and GTS cars running to period FiA homologated specification as per FIA appendix K regulations.

FiA identity papers are preferred but will not be required for any Equipe Classic Racing events.

A completed car specification declaration form will need to be signed by the driver and submitted before any entry will be accepted.

Additional period modifications may be accepted providing any such modifications are declared to and are agreed by Equipe Classic Racing

All cars will be accepted or refused by Equipe Classic Racing on their individual merit.

It is expected that all cars comply with FiA appendix K vehicle regulations, or will run to a period specification as listed on your driver’s declaration/registration form to be approved by Equipe Classic Racing .

For 2018 the engine size shall be limited in accordance with FiA Appendix K requirements i.e. a maximum overbore of 1.2mm over the original production engine size and standard stroke. Engine capacity, bore and stroke will be checked periodically so we suggest that you may want to have your engine checked and sealed by an MSA scruitineer. This will be mandatory for 2019.

Equipe Classic Racing reserves the right to re-classify any car into a more appropriate class if in their opinion it is considered to be in keeping with the potential performance of the car.

5.2 Safety Requirements

In accordance with the MSA or the national regulations in country of event.

5.3 Race Classes

Class 1 – Cars up to 1300cc

Class 2 – Cars from 1301 to 1675cc

Class 3 – Cars from 1676 to 1860cc

Class 4 – Cars from 1861 to 2200cc

Class 5 – Cars from 2201 to 2750cc

Class 6 – Invitational Class

5.4 Bodywork

Bodywork must remain as per period FIA Appendix K regulations or Equipe Classic Racing must approve any other modifications. Flared wheel arches are prohibited.

Local drilling or the cutting of holes in the front apron is allowed only to allow increased airflow to an engine oil cooler as in period.

Any additional non Appendix K regulation holes in the bodywork are forbidden along with any other form of modification to aid brake cooling.

5.5 Windscreens

All cars manufactured after 1st January 1955 must run with full width windscreens as per FiA appendix K.

Aero screen are prohibited on cars after 1st January 1955

 

5.6 Hardtops

All cars fitted with full front and rear roll-cages must be fitted with a factory style hardtop or an aftermarket hardtop of a period appearance or must compete with the original style soft-top erected. MGB’s must run with an original work hardtop.

5.7 Wheels

All cars may use either wire spoke or pressed steel wheels. Alternatively, cars manufactured after 1st January 1961 may use alloy wheels of period appearance.

All cars must use wheel rim diameter in compliance with the period homologation of the car.

All cars must use either wheel rim width in compliance with the period homologation of the car, or up to a maximum of 5J in classes 1 and 2, and up to 5.5J in classes 3,4,5 and 6. Should your car deem it necessary due to being homologated with a smaller width.

All cars must run to the Homologated track.

5.8 Tyres

All cars running during qualifying and races must use Dunlop historic CR65 L or M section racing tyres. This is across all classes and regardless of weight .

5.9 Advertising

Equipe Classic Racing Advertising on cars, As a Historic series we expect advertising on the cars to be kept to an absolute minimum and in all cases must be of period appearance. Personal Advertising will be allowed on the front windscreen as a sunstrip to a maximum of 200mm. Equipe Classic Racing reserves the right to ask for decals and stickers to be removed should it be deemed necessary.

Space must be made available on all cars for event sponsor’s decals, and Equipe Classic Racing reserves the right to insist upon any competitor removing or covering any other sponsor’s decals if requested to do so.

5.10 Race Fuel

All vehicles must use Pump Fuel; A full definition of pump fuel is given on page 60 of the current MSA Blue Book, but the key numbers are max RON of 100.0 and maximum lead content of 0.005 g/l.

 5.11 Permitted and prohibited modifications

Any manually operated 4 speed gearbox will be permitted as long as it’s the original gearbox and casing for the car as per homologation.  Internals are free. MGA / B 3 synchro gearboxes can be replaced with the later 4 synchro gearbox (as long as the car was originally homologated with a 3 synchro gearbox).  Sequential gearboxes are prohibited.

Panhard rods, rear anti roll bars, watts linkages or any type of additional suspension modifications are prohibited unless stated on the FIA specification papers for that vehicle. (adjustable anti roll bars are prohibited.) Axle casing modification to help with suspension geometry are prohibited. Alloy hubs unless stated on the FIA specification papers are prohibited. Suspension pick up points must be in their original position and not modified.

An Electronic triggering device type of ignition will be permitted as long as it is NOT mapable and is fully contained inside the distributor. (i.e Aldon Ignitor) A 123 distributor will not be permitted nor will luminition ignition.

Alloy Radiators will be permitted as long as they are the same size and position as the original item and must be painted or powder coated black.

MGA’s will be allowed to use a later 1800cc MGB engine and will as such be in the relevant class. MGA’s can also use an MGB front upright as a matter of safety. A sidedraft weber carburetor will be permitted.

All cars must run to their homologated weight.
